Terrific
Tweeters
These
bookshelf speakers, like all Northridge Series Mark II speakers, feature
titanium-laminate-dome tweeters, made from 75 percent titanium deposited
on a lightweight substrate for high strength and rigidity along with
excellent transient response, clarity, resolution and power-handling
capability. Higher frequency sounds come through clean and clear, not
distorted or " tinny" . The tweeters operate in conjunction with JBL's
redesigned Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) waveguide, which directs
sound toward the listening area and away from the side walls for a wider
sound field, which means even greater imaging. The difference made by
the improved EOS waveguide is most noticeable in even more realistic
surround sound effects with your favorite movies and music recorded in
exciting new multi-channel formats.
Wonderful
Woofers
The woofer
cones are constructed with the newest formulation of JBL's PolyPlas
polymer-coated-cellulose-fiber cone material, which combines the sonic
neutrality of paper with the added rigidity of the PolyPlas treatment to
dampen internal resonance and provide a smooth frequency response with
faster transients. This also enables higher playback levels without
distortion. Complementing the innovative cone technology, the woofers
feature HeatScape motor structure, which provides efficient heat
dissipation for accurate driver performance even during high-volume
playback. Your speakers not only sound better, but keeping them cool
also extends the life of your speakers so you get even more enjoyment
from them.
All In
One Great Package
The
Northridge Series Mark II IsoPower baffle design rigidly affixes this
speaker's drivers to an extremely dense, non resonant baffle, allowing
maximum air movement and energy to be generated by the drivers, while
minimizing energy loss. The enclosures are made from a special
high-strength, acoustically inert plastic-composite material, precisely
molded into shapes designed to reduce diffraction from the front baffle
and eliminate internal standing waves. In this speaker, integral bracing
is molded as part of the inside enclosure walls to add strength and
rigidity. JBL's FreeFlow technology utilizes a redesigned bass port that
is tuned to the woofer and cabinet for extended low-frequency response
and improved efficiency. From the baffles to the bass port, it all adds
up to a speaker that makes the most of every watt you feed it, to
provide a most satisfactory listening experience.
Straight-Line Signal Path
The drivers
are purpose-designed to match each other efficiently in frequency
response so that little manipulation of the audio signal is required in
the crossover network. This allows the use of a minimal number of
high-quality electrical components in a shorter, simpler signal path.
Because the signal undergoes very little processing in the crossover
network, the clarity, detail and dynamics of the original content are
preserved. The further you run, the less energy you have when you arrive
at your destination. Audio signals are the same way. By simplifying and
shortening the signal path, JBL engineers made sure that the signals
traveling through your Northridge Series Mark II bookshelf speakers
don't lose any of their power and realism along the way.
