Updated with higher-performing Pentium III processors, the Netfinity® 5100 tower server offers IBM power, scalability, control, and serviceability to create a reliable foundation for your networked mainstream business applications. Using two-way SMP-capable, 133 MHz front-side bus (FSB) Pentium III processors. They are packaged in a compact 5U mechanical with ample bays to support general-purpose database, file, or print serving business applications.
The Netfinity® 5100 incorporates a powerful 800 MHz Pentium III processor
with 256 KB advanced transfer L2 cache. The advanced transfer cache is the
result of a new 256-bit wide "backside bus". This new bus, four times wider than
the previous bus, is called a quad-wide cache line. The quad-wide cache line can
transfer four 64-bit cache line segments at one time to deliver full-speed
capability. The Netfinity 5100 provides an excellent blend of affordable
performance for today and potential for future growth as networking needs
expand.
